Filler paste

A very high solids and extremely flexible paste, containing special adhesive binding resins and filling agents, currently available in “Natural” (Whitish/Cream) and a limited range of basic colours.

Unwanted stitching holes, deeper scratches or small puncture holes etc. in Leather may be quickly and permanently filled with FILLER PASTE and further disguised, if necessary, by colouring over with either water or solvent based renovators.

METHOD OF USE

Prior to using Filler Paste, the effected area should be thoroughly cleaned and allowed to dry.

Simply apply the paste to the damage using a palette knife spatula or similar tool pressing the paste well into any deep holes and removing any unwanted material from the perimeter using a cloth moistened with water.

It may be found advisable to apply a “First application” and wiping away all surplus material to leave a concave, filled hole.

Follow with a second application to “level out” the repair, drying between applications to avoid shrinkage.

If filling scratches, ensure that “lifted” or “rough” pieces of leather are pressed down into the paste as much as possible. Gentle “Stroking” in the natural direction of the fibres with a moistened spatula or spoon handle can assist in giving a smooth repair.

To speed up drying, gentle heating with warm air may be employed but care should be taken to avoid overheating as this may adversely affect the adhesion and cause later shrinkage.

Rough or harsh feeling areas may be reduced by the use of fine sand/emery paper before re-colouring and it is advisable to slightly abrade the repair with fine sandpaper, scouring pad or similar to promote adhesion of any subsequent finish.

If the repaired area has a grain, “crease or line” this may be “Drawn” into the paste with a sharp implement or even the use of a finger nail before completely dry

paste grease remover

PASTE GREASE REMOVER has proved invaluable in removing greasy or oily deposits that have penetrated and softened the surface of the leather

Normally heavy deposits are found on items of upholstered furniture in the “Head” & “Hand” resting sections and usually appear as darker, damp and sticky areas.

It is essential that these deposits be completely removed before attempting any re-colouring as it is impossible to obtain good adhesion of any subsequent product over such greasy deposits.

It should be pointed out that in using PASTE GREASE REMOVER it is almost always necessary to carry out some re-coloration of the treated area due to the amount of colour removed along with the contaminant.

METHOD OF USE

Shake the container well before use as the contents tend to separate out very quickly whilst standing.

Using a paint or varnish brush, apply a heavy coat to the affected area and cover immediately with “Cling Film” or similar material. This covering will prevent the solvent drying too quickly and enhance the “Drawing Action” of the paste.

Allow drying thoroughly, the time will vary according to temperature and thickness of application. However, do not attempt to speed up the drying as the longer time the paste is active, the greater the amount of contaminant that will have been absorbed.

When dry, remove the film and brush/vacuum away the dried powder. Where the area is very greasy, it may be found necessary to scrape the contaminated and totally grease and/or oil soaked paste off the surface.

This process should be repeated until the area takes on a dry appearance and is no longer greasy or damp to the touch. Usually the size of the area to be treated will decrease with each successive application.

When completely satisfied that the area is totally free of all grease etc., re-colouring or renovation of the area can proceed using the correct product, recommended procedure and colour for the particular leather involved.

Warning
PASTE GREASE REMOVER IS FLAMMABLE.
Always use in a well-ventilated area.

Chewing Gum Remover

A blend of solvents which have the ability to soften and liquefy chewing and bubble gum.

METHOD OF USE

Always test on an inconspicuous area. Always assume that some of the original leather finish coating may be removed or disturbed during cleaning and that some form of re-colouring may be required.
Firstly try and reduce the amount of gum deposit by either freezing or picking off or scraping off large deposits.

Using a wood handled cotton bud (Q tip) wetted with the fluid mixture apply to the contaminated surface using a gentle rubbing action, constantly turning the bud. In the other hand have a piece of cloth to immediately wipe away the loosened material.

If the surface coating of the leather starts to be removed stop the cleaning until you have assessed the degree of re-colouring that may be required.

WARNING
Always use in a well ventilated area. Always wear skin and eye protection

Emulsion Paint Remover

A blend of solvents which have the ability to dissolve the acrylic resin system of most emulsion paint formulations whilst having a less aggressive action on the original leather finish.

METHOD OF USE

Always test on an inconspicuous area. Always assume that some of the original leather finish coating may be removed or disturbed during cleaning and that some form of re-colouring may be required.

Using a wood handled cotton bud (Q tip) wetted with the fluid mixture apply to the contaminated surface using a gentle rubbing action, constantly turning the bud. In the other hand have a piece of cloth to immediately wipe away the loosened material.
